Public Lecture: Quantum Communications Networks

Quantum communication offers the best possible security of any communication system. Its security is based on the fact that a quantum state of light cannot be copied. We use this property to ensure that  the message can be read by only the intended recipient (find out how in the talk). The very fact that it cannot be copied means that it difficult to build large scale networks when there is a chance that the signal is lost in transmission. So how do we build large scale quantum networks? This talk, given by Hub investigator Siddarth Joshi and organised by IET Coventry and Warwickshire, will introduce you to entanglement and how we use this mysterious quantum phenomena to build a city wide quantum network.
