House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee Quantum Technologies Inquiry Report

This is the report published by the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee following the Quantum Technologies Inquiry. Hub Director, Professor Tim Spiller gave evidence during the inquiry, which included over 30 pieces of written evidence and took oral evidence from 26 witnesses. The report outlines the opportunities for economic growth and societal benefit presented by quantum technologies, as well as the potential risks that must be managed, and makes recommendations to the Government regarding the future of the National Quantum Technologies Programme.

Responsible Innovation in Quantum Technologies applied to Defence and National Security

This Briefing Note is the outcome of a workshop held in Oxford in October 2016 and also draws on interviews and a review of the literature in defence, technology, and quantum technologies. It presents issues for consideration by policy makers and innovators responsible for applying quantum technologies to defence and national security. It addresses the challenges of adopting these technologies in a responsible way in a complex market economy and changing international operating environment. Hub Director, Professor Tim Spiller, was consulted during the production of this Briefing Note.

This POSTnote introduces recent advances, applications, and UK initiatives to support their development and commercialisation. It also reviews policy concerns such as privacy, access to new technologies and secure communications. Hub Director, Professor Tim Spiller, was consulted during the preparation of this POSTnote regarding secure communications and the industrial applications of quantum communications technologies.
