New Hub Job Opportunities!

The Quantum Communications Hub team at the University of Bristol is advertising two new research appointments:

  • A Research Engineer in Software Engineering for Quantum Cryptography in Networks. The position would be ideal for someone with drive to work closely with scientists and engineers to build leading edge technologies. Applications welcome from talented software engineers with experience in coding (C++ and Python), information theory, and or working in a laboratory environment. Here we aim to apply your skill set to help in the development of quantum communication which is a next generation ultra-secure communication technique. The successful candidate will develop software for fibre optic quantum networks and free space satellite quantum key exchange. Detailed tasks could range from implementation of hash functions, error correction algorithms, privacy amplification, GUIs for experiment control, software and drivers for operation of laboratory equipment.

  • Research Associate/Senior Associate in Quantum Communications Systems. The position would be ideal for talented individuals with experience in photonics, and quantum optics to help in the development of quantum communication and quantum key distribution (QKD) technologies. Key project areas will be designing, building and testing both chip scale and bulk optics QKD systems and demonstrating them on quantum networks. This opportunity is suitable for both recently qualified post-doctoral researchers and applicants that are more experienced. The successful candidate will join the team and work towards building large scale quantum networks, long distance quantum communication (via optical fibre, free space and satellite), novel (MDI, floodlight) QKD, quantum repeaters and other quantum information protocols.
