International Hub workshop on advances in quantum networking (QNetworks 2023)

The UK Quantum Communications Hub workshop on recent advances in quantum networking (QNetworks) will return on 28-29 September 2023 with a new programme of speakers reporting on latest breakthroughs in the field.

QNetworks is a two-day annual workshop bringing together researchers from the UK’s Quantum Communications Hub programme and similar initiatives across the world as well as industry to discuss technological challenges and solutions for creating the next generation of quantum communication networks.

This year the particular focus will be on challenges and possible solutions for building a quantum network that can support the rollout of a future quantum internet with applications beyond point-to-point security such as distributed quantum computing. The event will include sessions on: the perspective from industry; international quantum networking initiatives; quantum communications in space; and others.

Parking: The Glasgow Science Centre has over 450 parking spaces, including 28 disabled spaces. Tickets are issued at the entry barrier to the car park. The dedicated event hosts will validate these at the ticket desk so that workshop attendees do not have to pay to park for the duration of our event. Vehicles are not permitted to be left overnight in the car park and if so a charge will apply. The venue has 6 electric charging stations.

Taxis: There is a Taxi rank located outside of the building between the Glasgow Science Centre and the BBC building. The contact number for Glasgow Taxi’s is +44 (0) 141 429 7070. 

WiFi: All in person delegates will be provided at registration with information on how to join the venue’s WiFi service for free.

Not a fan of crowds? It is true that the Glasgow Science Centre is one of Glasgow’s biggest attractions and as such, it is difficult to ensure that during the event, delegates won’t come across other visitors. We have been reassured by venue staff that with the event taking place during term time and on working days (as opposed to the weekend), there are low numbers of visitors expected. We have capped in-person attendance at 150 visitors and have booked the IMAX lecture theatre which has a capacity of 370, meaning that if you would like to keep to yourself, there will be plenty of opportunity to do so!
