Continuous Variable-QKD

Home>Research Community>About the Hub>Phase 2>Continuous Variable-QKD

The Hub is introducing a new QKD approach into its portfolio with CV-QKD, based on continuous quantum light signals. The aim is experimental development of robust, high-rate CV-QKD systems for secure communication in fibre, free-space and satellite links . Advanced quantum encoding and data processing techniques are being developed and incorporated in order to greatly improve the practical robustness of these new systems. A further goal is the experimental development of CV-QKD with squeezed states, aiming to fully exploit the security advantages of continuous variable entanglement in quantum communications.

Important information

Thank you for your interest in the work of the Quantum Communications Hub (2014-2024). The project is now complete but you can still explore all our resources on this website. You can also download our legacy report through this link

Information on the Hub’s SPOQC quantum cubesat mission, scheduled to launch in 2025, can be accessed in this section, but please note that this website will no longer be updated with new content. Information around the launch of the mission will be publicised through press releases.
